Like it or not, the odds of winning the Powerball are about 1 in 175 million. Your chances of becoming a movie star are better, about 1 in 1.5 million. And the likelihood your home will be burglarized while you’re at work? According to a 2012 crime report by the FBI, about 1 in 36. (New York City, fortunately, has a low burglary rate compared to most American cities, but your chances are still about 1 in 445 people.) On average, burglars in the U.S. make off with about $1,675 per break-in.

If you don’t like those odds, Gotham Brokerage can help. While we can’t do anything about your film career or lottery winnings, we can help you find the right NYC apartment, condo, or co-op insurance to protect you from losses due to theft. And it may cost far less than you would expect — get in touch with a Gotham professional to make sure you’ve got adequate coverage.
